Vildagliptin is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus, a condition characterized by high blood sugar (glucose) levels. This occurs when body cells become resistant to the effects of insulin, resulting in elevated blood glucose. In type 2 diabetes, the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not use it effectively.
